Mark Steven Smolick , age 10, of Middlesboro, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022. He was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on April 11, 2012, to Jonathan Smolick and Lisa Smolick. Mark was a 5th grader at Middlesboro Middle School where he wore #5 on the MMS Yellow Jacket football team.
Mark loved playing football and cherished the friendships with his fellow teammates. Mark had a special relationship with his “Poppop”, Tom Manis. From learning to ride a bike, playing catch football, or working on the house, time spent with “Poppop” was a favorite of his. He also enjoyed playing computer games with his sister, Genny. His dog, Bella, was a beloved companion.
Mark is preceded in death by his grandmother, Yvonne Smolick and step-grandfather, Dan Guard.
He is survived by his parents Jonathan Smolick and Lisa Smolick; his sister, Genevieve “Genny” Smolick; paternal grandparents, Bernard and Sharon Smolick; maternal grandparents, Tom and Debbie Manis; aunts, Salina Manis and Danielle Guard; and uncles, Wyatt Smolick and Spencer Smolick.
A private family service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY with Rev. David King presiding.
A public memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Middlesboro Schools Central Auditorium and Fine Arts Center in Middlesboro, KY.
