Yvonne Roop

Yvonne Roop, 83, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away Saturday, February 27, at her home after a lengthy illness.  She was born December 31, 1937 in Arjay, KY, the daughter of the late A.B. and Mamie Mullins McPherson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 daughter; Michele Gulley.

Yvonne was the youngest of ten children, but there is no question she was born to lead.  She was the matriarch of her own family and loved cooking them Sunday dinners and keeping holiday traditions.  She was a proud lady and never left home without her high heels and her jewelry.  She loved country line dancing and soaking up the sun.

Yvonne’s calling to lead, carried over into her career.  She served as city clerk for 25 years and eventually came out of retirement to serve another 10 years.

She is survived by the following members of her family:

Her daughter: Brenda Maiden  of Middlesboro, KY

Two Granddaughters: Kristen (Marcie) Maiden of Lexington, KY and Ashley (Greg) Treece of Middlesboro, KY.

Great Grandchildren: Gavin Bradford-Maiden, Benjamin Bradford-Maiden, Ethan Treece, Makinley Treece and Trey Treece.

The family, in keeping with Yvonne’s wishes, has chosen private services.
