Wentford Abbott

Wentford Abbott, age 75, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 at his home. He was born on November 5, 1943, the son of Jake Abbott and Hazel Ayers Abbott. Mr. Abbott attended the Noetown Freewill Baptist Church. He graduated from Middlesboro High School in 1961 and attended Mayo State University until entering the United States Army. He proudly served in the Vietnam War during 1968 – 1969. Mr. Abbott retired from the US Postal Service.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: Admiral Dewey Abbott, Phyllis Johnson, Ronald Perry and Pascal Abbott.

Mr. Abbott is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Charlotte Mason Abbott of Middlesboro, KY; son, Jason Abbott and wife Angela of Middlesboro, KY; grandchildren, Caitlin and Holden North of Virginia; one very special niece Myra Gambrel; brothers and sisters: Allen Ray, Joel, Jake Jr., Donald Pope, Gerry, Angela, Francis and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Terry Warwick and Rev. Jeff Baker officiating. Burial services will be private.
