Virginia Hensley

Virginia Fay Hensley, age 85 of Speedwell, TN, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Tri-State Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Facility in Harrogate, TN.  She was born April 22, 1936, she was the first-born child of the late Harold and Jane Johnson in Big Stone Gap, VA.

Virginia was known and loved by many children in Cincinnati, Ohio and Middlesboro, KY.  She was the first female bus driver that Lee County, VA, had hired.  She was the greatest, most loving, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her friend, ex-husband and father of her 3 children, William E. Hensley; son-in-law, Bruce E. Schoolcraft; sister, Wanda Jean Wells; brother, Ted Johnson; brothers-in-law, Bob Denny and Paul Harper.

She is survived the following members of her family:

Son, Teddy D. Hensley

Daughters, Jona Schoolcraft, and Marla Williams and her husband Claude

Grandchildren, Tiffany (Travis) Davis, Candace Leslie (Logan) Dilday, Jonathan (Alex) Schoolcraft, Gavin Williams, and Kelly Williams

Great-grandchildren, Kenadi Davis, Kaeden Davis, Levi Williams, Baby Girl Schoolcraft (due in December), and Lauryn Crabtree

And a host of many friends, nieces, nephews, and other relatives that loved her very much.

The family sends many thanks to the staff at the Harrogate Amedisys Home Health, Morristown Amedisys Hospice, Abby, Beverly, Martha, Garland and Christy.  You all are so appreciated, and we don’t know what we would have done without you all over the last year and a half.  Thanks for all the love that was shown to us all. Also, thanks to the CDE ladies, Helen, Jenny and Jean, who cared for her when we needed a break; and a special thanks to Lana, who was always just a phone call away and helped us tremendously.

Due to Covid, the family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
