Velma Lee North Lipps passed away on February 13, 2022, at the Middlesboro Rehabilitation and Nursing Home under Hospice care. She was born January 31, 1945 in Speedwell, TN, daughter of the late Dit and Edith (Moore) North. Velma was employed as a butcher at Chatham’s Supermarket in Michigan for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Tommy and Mertie North, and John and Ellie Moore; husband of 54 years, Fred Lipps; stepson, Michael Lipps; and her sister and brother-in-law, Nettie and Cecil Combs.
She is survived by her brother, James “Dee” North (Marie); nieces, Brenda McKenney, Micha Hembree (Tim) Meadows, Deanna North (Jason) Widner, Janie Maynard (Seth) Miller; cousin, Teresa (David) Teague; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel in Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Brown, Jr. presiding. Music will be provided by Shirley Partin and the Yellow Creek Baptist Church Singers. Graveside service will immediately follow in the Yoakum Cemetery in Speedwell, TN.
Pallbearers will be Jerry M “Beamer” Evans, Barry Combs, Ronnie Bell, Jason Widner, Frank Maynard and Jerry Maynard.
