Shirley Henson, 80, of Middlesboro, Kentucky passed away on April 12, 2019 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born and raised in Manchester, Kentucky on October 22, 1938 to the late Woodrow and Annie Mae Burns Henson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Everett Lynn Henson, daughter Greta Renee Henson, sister Holly Henson, brothers Harvey and Roy Henson and son-in-law Luther Reeves.
He was a coal miner for many years working at Cyprus Cumberland Coal Company formerly known as Mountain Drive. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and was an avid gardener. He was of the Holiness faith and attended Calvary Holiness Church. He was very loved by his family and will be missed dearly by all those that knew him.
He is survived by the following members of his family:
Loving wife of 58 years: Josephine Henson
Daughters: Teresa (Doug) Warren and Melissa Reeves all from Middlesboro, Kentucky
Grandchildren: Luther Shirley Reeves, Clarissa (Eric) Hubbard, Micah Reeves, Valerie (Leon) Sullivan and Joshua Warren
Great-grandchildren: Cheyenne Sullivan and Hunter Sullivan
Sisters: Frances Jackson of Manchester, Kentucky, Arlene Jackson of London, Kentucky and Pamela (Sylvester) Roark of Manchester, Kentucky
Brother: Jessie (Mossie) Henson of Manchester, Kentucky
And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Creech Funeral Home in Middlesboro, Kentucky.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie King, Rev. Eric Hubbard and Rev. Danny Stewart presiding. Music will be provided by Glenda Nunn, Pam Sulfridge, Eric Hubbard and Danny Stewart.
A graveside service will follow in the Henson Family Cemetery on Turner Church Road in Middlesboro, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Luther Reeves, Micah Reeves, Joshua Warren, Eric Hubbard, Leon Sullivan and Ethan Finley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Trampas Nolan and his office staff.
