Shirley Helton

Shirley Helton, age 79, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 in Lexington, KY. She was born on May 20, 1940 in Blanche, KY, daughter of the late Jesse Smith and Betty (Roark) Laws, the 2nd oldest of 11 children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Fred Helton; daughter, Annette Taylor; infant daughter, Kathleen Helton; several of her siblings, special grandmother, Millie Sizemore Broughton; and special uncle Robert Lewis.

Left to mourn her passing are her two sons, Fred and Edward Helton; 4 grandsons, Bradley Taylor, Stephen Taylor, Kevin Taylor and Austin Helton; granddaughter, Rebecca (Matt) Neff; 7 great-grandchildren, Tamara Taylor, William Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Courtney Taylor, Brianna Taylor, Logan Taylor and Emily Mink; great-great grandson, Levi Miller; daughter-in-law, Lilly Helton; granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Taylor; along with some very special, close friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gene Taylor and Rev. Golden Taylor officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, KY.

The family sends a special thanks to the staff at Central Baptist Hospital and Hospice of the Bluegrass for the loving care she was given in her final days.
