Ronnie Gentry Baker, age 74, of Middlesboro, KY, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, June 16, 2024. He was born on July 9, 1949, in Pineville, KY to the late Herman Baker and Athyleen Hoskins Baker.
Ronnie had a deep passion for country music and old rock and roll. His eyes would light up at the sound of a George Jones classic, and his weekends often included listening to the “Country Gold Saturday Night” radio show. Ronnie was a true-blue UK Wildcats fan. His enthusiasm for the CATS was unmatched, especially for the men’s basketball team. His family contends he may have been their biggest fan. Ronnie also found amusement in watching golf on television, playing games on his phone, and, one of his latest pleasures, throwing darts. Above all, Ronnie enjoyed time spent with his family and is remembered as the best dad and papaw.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his step-mother, Katherine Sowers Baker; grandchildren, Christopher Robert Baker, Frankie Lee Baker, Jr, and Autumn Rose Juanita Baker; brother, Donald “Donnie” Eugene Baker; sisters-in-law, Sue Baker and Debbie Baker; and brother-in-law, Harold Murphy.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Robert Eugene Baker “Bobby”, Frankie Lee Baker (April), and Sherry Maleana Bowen (Darian); grandchildren, Joseph Christopher Baker (Kari), Whitney Leigh Baker (Corey Fuson), Jaxon Blake Baker, Sean Coltny Bullins (Kayla), Devin Alan Jones, Cameron Alexander Bowen, and Sydney Hunter Tate Bowen; great-grandchildren, Kaytee, Kayden, Kaleb, Karissa, and Joanna “Jojo” Baker, Sawyer and Bailey Fuson, Liam, Arabella, and Gemma Jones, and soon to arrive, Sean Coltny Bullins, Jr.; siblings, Gilbert Baker, Lannon Jay Baker (Susan), Anna Ruth Murphy, Franklin Butch Baker; and step-siblings, Sandy Smith (Cary), Debbie Howard (Larry), Jolene Lawwil (Rocky), and Mike Sowers (Sally) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
