Richard Asher

Richard Timothy Joseph Asher, age 20, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.  He suffered from a rare, fatal, neurodegenerative disease in children that affects the whole body.  He was born October 4, 2002 in Harlan, KY, the son of the late Richard Wilson Asher.

Richard was a blessing from birth.  Our Dad absolutely adored little Richard and was very proud of him.  He had the biggest smile, the best laugh, and loved everyone.  Richard’s most favorite people are his nieces and nephews.  All those who were blessed to know Richard, loved him dearly.  His limitations never limited his love.

2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”  Richard no longer has the limitation of his disabilities, but now has a new Glorified body, running and shouting on those streets of Gold.  He’s hugging Jesus, our Daddy, and our dear brother-in-law, Mark.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Asher; and his brother-in-law, Mark Tapp.

Richard is survived by his siblings, April Tapp of Middlesboro, KY, Bonnie (Owen) Beck of Middlesboro, KY, Sarah Asher of Lexington, KY, Georgianna (Randall) Good of Middlesboro, KY, Debra (Jason) Good of Harrogate, TN, Abigail Wilson of Middlesboro, KY, Brooklyn Wilson (Aaron Dixon) of Hazard, KY, and Blake McQueen of Harlan, KY.

Nieces and nephews, Brittanie Campbell, Nathan Good, Brianna Strouth, Adriann Strouth, Jaydon Wilson, Jeremiah Beck, Johnathan Tapp, Jace Gambrel, Kaylee Wilson, Mathew Taylor, Jackson Tapp, Brandon Taylor, Emma Taylor, and Jett Beck.   Richard also leaves behind a very special lady, Sally Asher, his sister’s mother, who loved him like her own.  Along with a host of other beloved family and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family of Richard Timothy Joseph Asher will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Paul W. Long officiating.  Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral service at Mountain View Cemetery in Harrogate, TN.  Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
