Rev. Clayborn J. Gibbons, age 71, of Harrogate, TN passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born June 2, 1949 in Middlesboro, KY, the son of the late George and Ruby Gibbons.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He truly loved Tennessee football and basketball. He loved and proudly served the Lord and was pastor at the New Start Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, brother, friend and “Pap”.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, David Gibbons.
He is survived by the following members of his family:
Brenda Gibbons, his loving wife of almost 50 years (December 26, 2020 would have been 50 years)
Daughter, Sandy (Trampus) Peck of Harrogate, TN
Grandchildren, Selina (Bobby) Miller of Cumberland Gap, TN; Max (Mollie) Gibbons of Tazewell, TN; and Sam (Lacy) Gibbons of Speedwell, TN
Great-Grandchildren, Adalyn Miller and Keagan Miller (Little Man)
Daughter-in-law, Jackie Gibbons
Siblings, Ronnie (Debbie) Gibbons of Knoxville, TN; Joan (Mark) McMillian of Lake Orion, MI; Harold (Cindy) Gibbons of Harrogate, TN; Joyce (Craig) Susong of Tazewell, TN; Judy (Darrell) Bussell of Glasgow, KY; and Beverly (Jay) Mason of Harrogate, TN
And a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, who loved him dearly.
Due to unfortunate circumstances caused by Covid-19, all services will be private. Rev. Waylon Meyers will be presiding and music will be provided by Wayne Carpenter. Rev. Gibbons will be laid to rest at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
All Covid-19 regulations, including masks and social distancing will be observed.
