Rachel Raines

Rachel Marie Raines, age 97, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, moved on to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 19, 2023.  She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Josh Raines and her son, Dennis Raines.

Rachel loved to cook family dinners and enjoyed having all her family around her.  She also loved to talk on the phone to her children and her church friends.  She was a prayer warrior, even when she was no longer able to attend church.  “Ms. Rachel”, as she was fondly called, lead the singing and read the Bible for the Pastor at her church, The Church of the First Born, Middlesboro, KY, since 1969.

Rachel leaves to cherish her memory:  eight children, Roger Raines of Tennessee, Harold (Zella) Raines of Monroe, MI, Richard Raines of Ewing, VA, Donna (Robert) Ellison of Monroe, MI,  Larry Raines of Middlesboro, KY, Glen (Freda) Raines of Middlesboro, KY, Terry Raines of Middlesboro, KY, and Diana (Chris) Knight, of Monroe, MI.  She also leaves behind a stepdaughter, Juanita (David) Fanslau of Flat Rock, MI.

Rachel was blessed with twenty-nine grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her family, Rachel’s special friends, Priscilla and Diane, who she loved dearly, and her beloved dog, Spencer, will remain to cherish her memory.

Friends of Rachel Marie Raines may call on the family on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. Ricky Braden officiating.  Music will be provided by singers from The Church of the First Born, Middlesboro, KY.  Friends and family will follow in procession to the Sharp Cemetery in Middlesboro, KY where graveside services will be held.
