Mary Blackwell

Mary Elizabeth Senters Blackwell, age 80, of Westland, MI, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019, peacefully in the burn unit of the Detroit Receiving Hospital in Detroit, MI. She was born on August 12, 1939 in Gibson Station, VA, the daughter of the late Joseph Tye and Thelma Kay Kuykendall Senters.

She went to Michigan in the 1960’s and retired from Macy’s Department Store.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Mitchell Blackwell, who perished in the house fire; brothers, Larry Senters and Billy Jo Senters; sisters, Gladys Brimm, Willie June Witt and Phyllis Lambert; mother and father-in-law, William and Essie Mae Doss Blackwell.

She is survived by her sisters, Betty Jo Burchett of Harrogate, TN, Jearlene Barnes of Camden, IN and Cloeva Sue Porcelli of Lincoln Park, MI. She also leaves behind to mourn her passing a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service for Mrs. Blackwell will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Elydale Cemetery in Ewing, VA with Rev. Shelvie Fultz officiating. Music will be by Wilma and David Redmond. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
