Lucy Roper

Lucy Roper, age 99 of Calvin, KY, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023.  She was born September 22, 1923, the daughter of the late Leamon Roark and Flora Brummett Roark.

In addition to her parents, Lucy is preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson Davis Roper; great granddaughter, Rebecca Nicole Ellison; four brothers and two sisters.

Lucy is survived by her son, Kermit Creech (Wanda) of Calvin, KY and daughter, Ocie Gail Woolsey of Tazewell, TN; four grandchildren, Kermit Creech II (Rhonda) of Morristown, TN, Dana Creech of Calvin, KY, Johnny Lee Ellison, Jr. (Teresa) of Tazewell, TN, and Michael Paul Ellison (April) of New Tazewell, TN; six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Oma Jean Brock of Corbin, KY and Phyllis Marie McGeorge of Calvin, KY; brother, Rodney Roark of Tazewell, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Diversicare of Claiborne County and Suncrest Hospice for the care they provided to Ms. Lucy.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Shane Sandifur officiating.  Graveside services will immediately follow in the Pine Lawn Cemetery in Pineville, KY.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.
