KENNETH WAYNE WHEELER
On Tuesday September 29, 2020, Kenneth Wayne Wheeler, a loving husband, father and grandfather, entered into his eternal rest at the age of 96 years, 8 months and 24 days.
Wayne was born on January 5, 1924, in Ewing, VA, the son of the late Edgar and Vaude Cunningham Wheeler.
On August 25, 1944, he married the love of his life, Hattie Stallard Wheeler, together they raised two sons, Greg and Jerry.
In 1943, Wayne joined the United States Army to help with his country’s efforts in World War II. He was stationed in Europe until the end of the war. After the war, he returned home to operate Wheeler Grocery and to farm, which was his passion.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Hattie, he was also preceded in death by 2 sisters; Dorothy Grabeel and Lois Carrier.
Wayne is survived by the following members of his family, two sons; Jerry (Kathy) Wheeler and Greg (Nancy) Wheeler, all of Ewing, VA. Three Grandchildren; Amy (Celest) Wheeler, Katie (Greg) Jones and Morgan Wheeler. Four great grandchildren; Campbell and Kade Spurlock, Cooper and Ella Jones.
Wayne is also survived by his many friends in the community and his Walnut Hill Baptist Church Family.
At the family’s request, due to current Covid-19 concerns, all services will be private.
Wayne will be laid to rest in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens, next to his beloved Hattie, where full military honors will be given by the Jellico Honor Guard.
