Joseph Wetzel Jones

January 22, 1958 — April 29, 2024

Rockledge

Joseph Wetzel Jones, age 66, of Rockledge, FL, entered his Heavenly home on Monday, April 29, 2024. He was born on January 22,1958, in Middlesboro, KY to Paul “Butch” and Gladys Christian Jones, who preceded him in death.

Joe was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He served as a Military Police Officer and tank mechanic. Even after his active service was over, Joe continued to honor his military family by participating in “RED (Remember Everyone Deployed) Fridays”-wearing red to show support for troops deployed overseas.

Joe is remembered as being a light to those around him. His greetings of, “Hello Sunshine” and “Good Morning”, no matter what time of day, were always delivered with a smile. He found great pleasure in making people laugh. Most people who knew him would say he was the biggest “hippie” ever. Despite his full-of-life personality, Joe could often be found “working on a nap”, one of his favorite pastimes. His favorite fur-girl, Ms. Daisy was never far from his side. Theirs was a special bond. Joe loved God, his family, and his country.

Throughout his journey, he and Marcia formed deep connections with numerous friends and communities who they held dear to their hearts. Including his involvement with the Bell County Rescue Squad in Middlesboro, KY, which showcased his selfless nature and willingness to offer help wherever it was needed. Joseph will forever be cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his legacy of kindness and service live on in the hearts of his surviving family and friends during this time of mourning.

Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his wife of 31 years, Marcia Jones; sons, Jonathan Jones of Glenville, GA, and Corey (Jennifer) Jones of Speedwell, TN; daughter Jenelle Jones of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, J.D. Jones, Justin Jones, Josh Jones, Jaelynn Jones, and Zoe Jones; brothers, Chuck (Terry) Jones and Scott Jones; and his beloved fur-baby, Ms. Daisy;  as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

The family of Joe Jones will receive friends on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Dale Jones presiding. At the conclusion of the funeral service, friends and family will follow in procession to Jones Cemetery, Middlesboro, KY, where graveside services will be held.

The family of Joe Jones would love for anyone that would like to participate in being a hippie for the day to wear something tie-dyed to his service, a t-shirt, do-rag, bandana or anything of your choice in his honor.
