Joann Booth

Joann Booth, age 73, of Middlesboro, KY, entered her Heavenly home on Monday, January 27, 2025. She was born on July 24, 1951, in Detroit, MI, to the late Homer and Mary Sue Beason Hembree.

Joann was saved and baptized at an early age at Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Ewing, Va. She was a longtime member of East Cumberland Avenue Baptist Church in Middlesboro, KY. She worked for several years at Hickman Building Supply in Middlesboro, KY and later managed the Phillips 66/Shell station on 25E in Middlesboro, KY. Joann loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her fur-babies, Bailey and Lucas who held a special place in her heart.

In addition to her parents, Joann is preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, David Alexander Booth and brother, Ronnie “Duke” Hembree. 

Left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Holly) Booth of Tazewell, TN, Mary Elizabeth Booth of Middlesboro, KY, and Amanda (Toby) Ellis of Blaine, TN; grandchildren, Abigail Booth, Alex Booth, Hannah Booth, Sydney Jo Partin, Hailey Ellis, Riley Ellis, and Bentley Ellis; siblings, Patsy Warf, George (Lana) Hembree and Gerald (Essie) Hembree; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. 

The family of Joann Booth will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ken Cole presiding. Music will be provided by Jean Roark.

At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel in procession to Cave Springs Cemetery in Tazewell, TN, where graveside services will be held. Pallbearers will be Toby Ellis, Alex Booth, Riley Ellis, Ernie Brock, Todd Ellis and David Redmond.
