James Allen Hunt, age 64, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the UK Hospital after several months of illness. His niece, Johnnie Mary Younis, was by his side, holding his hand during his final moments. He was born February 4, 1961, the son of the late Jesse Almy Hunt and Johnnie Daniels Hunt.
He carried a deep faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, embodying a kindness and gentle spirit that enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to know him. James, fondly known as Allen, had a joyful spirit and loved nothing more than to turtle hunt, spend time with family and friends, and embrace his playful, goofy nature. Those who knew him will remember the joy he brought into their lives, often lightening the mood with his jokes and playful tricks. Allen had a unique ability to bring laughter to every gathering, making it impossible to feel sad in his presence.
In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his loving son, Jeremy Hunt; brothers, Carl Hunt, Richard Hunt and Jesse Hunt Jr.; and his sister, Mary Linda Hunt.
Allen leaves behind a loving family that will profoundly miss him, including his sisters, Judy Bryant and Mary Hunt; his brothers, Lindsey Hunt (Toot) and Joseph Hunt; his children, Rachel Hunt and James Allen Hunt, Jr.; as well as three grandchildren. Additionally, he is mourned by a large circle of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends who hold cherished memories of him in their hearts.
Following his wishes, Allen was cremated and will be laid to rest with the rest of the Hunt family.
