James Evans

April 18, 1923 — June 13, 2019

James M Evans, 96, of Harrogate TN (formerly of Middlesboro KY) passed away on Thursday June 13, 2019 at the Claiborne County Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of this area. He was born April 18, 1923 to John Robin Evans and Bama Webb Evans. He was a WWII Veteran He was a regular breakfast customer at the Cracker Barrel in Middlesboro where he was loved by all the staff. James and his first wife Bertha, fostered 100 children.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Bertha Evans, his daughter Linda Lou Miracle, second wife Gladys Head Evans, stepsons John Head and Don Head.

He is survived by sons, Jimmy (Brenda) Evans, Carson (Nancy) Evans. Daughters Ruth (Dr John) Irby, and Mary Alice (Buford) Powell.

Step children, Jan (Dan) Reese, Brenda (Jim) Whitaker, and Bill (Linda) Head.

He is also survived by a special granddaughter Julie (Stan) Iliff. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Middlesboro.

Viewing will be on Tuesday 18, 2019 from 10:00am to 12:00pm with Funeral Services to be conducted at 12:00 pm by Rev Preston Smith, music by Randall Massengill. Burial will follow at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, KY.
