James Burchfield

Mr. James Edward “Poss” Burchfield, age 76, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away at his home on Monday, February 3, 2020.   He was born October 24, 1943, the son of the late Bert Burchfield and Cora (Sester) Burchfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his siblings, Charles Burchfield, Howard Burchfield, Hobert Burchfield, Homer Burchfield, Betty Mason and Mildred McDaniels.

James leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Shirley Pridemore Burchfield; children, Wanda (Robert) Elliott, Donna (Jeff) Overbay, James Burchfield, Jr. and Doris (Daniel) Scott; grandchildren, Brittney Brown, Adam Overbay, Jacob (Kaitlyn) Overbay, Christian Scott, Kyla Scott, Jessica Burchfield, Allyssa Burchfield, Gracelyn Burchfield, Anna Burchfield and Layci Simpson; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Defevers, Blake Brown, Josie Overbay, Raelyn Overbay and Denver Hoskins; siblings, Bert (Patricia) Burchfield, Jr., Doris (Kenneth) Hoskins and Robert (Mary) Burchfield; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY.  Funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jay Sulfridge presiding.  Music will be provided by Wanda Carroll.  Pallbearers will be Jacob Overbay, Adam Overbay, Christian Scott, Bert Burchfield, Jr., Junior Burchfield and Kenneth Burchfield.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2020 in the Yeary/Oakview Cemetery in Middlesboro, KY.
