Hortense Hatfield

Hortense "Tense" Ann Hatfield, 92 of Middlesboro, KY passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2022 at Middlesboro ARH. She was born on March 11th, 1929 in Middlesboro, KY, the daughter of the late Horton Scott and Estelle "Scott Scott" McKart Scott.

She was the loving wife of Donald Nelson Hatfield Sr. and loving mother of Don Nelson Hatfield Jr.  Although her husbands’ life was cut short, her love for him never died. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Henryetta Scott Babb and Winifred Scott Medley.

Surviving is her son Donald Nelson Hatfield Jr. of Acworth, GA and his wife Frances, her three loving grandchildren Ian Nelson Hatfield, Trevor Scott Hatfield, and Paige Madison Hatfield. She is survived by two sisters Dorothy Scott Sulfridge of Middlesboro, KY and Mary Scott Hatfield of Knoxville, TN, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.

The family of Mrs. Hatfield will receive friends on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.  The funeral service for Mrs. Hatfield will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 p.m. in the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel with Stephen Earle presiding.

Graveside service for Mrs. Hatfield will immediately follow the funeral service at the Middlesboro Cemetery in Middlesboro, KY.

Pallbearers will be Donald Nelson Hatfield, Jr., Ian Nelson Hatfield, Trevor Scott Hatfield, Joe Holder, Paul Connor Cawood, Jr. and Jake Partin.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her nephew Dr. Scott Medley as well as Dr. C.A Moore and her longtime physician Dr. Vicente Kaw, the staff of Middlesboro Health and Rehab facility and the staff of Middlesboro ARH for their kind and compassionate service.
