David Camp, 70, of Lovington, New Mexico, passed away on 14 July 2022.
He was born in Hobbs, New Mexico to Lloyd “LC” and Georgia Camp. He was the youngest of their three sons. He excelled in school, attending Boys State and graduating with honors allowing him to receive scholarships to Wayland Baptist University and the Air Force Academy. As an Air Force veteran, he served during the Vietnam War. He attended Weber State University majoring in Criminal Justice, New Mexico Junior College obtaining his associate in nursing and Eastern New Mexico University receiving his bachelor’s in nursing degree.
While serving in the military he met his wife, Cindy. They were married at Hill Air Force Base and later sealed for time and eternity in the Lubbock Texas Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple.
Being a kind and dependable father was of utmost importance to David and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.
David’s life told a clear story of what he valued most: family and connection to God and others through service. He loved his wife Cindy, was immensely proud of his children, and adored his grandchildren.
His grandchildren brought particular joy to him. David’s most tender reflection in facing the end of his life was how much he would miss time with his grandkids, children, and wife.
The last years have been spent with family and friends doing the things he loves most: golf, fishing, boating, and watching his grandchildren play sports.
To those who knew him, he was a stranger to none. He loved his friends, all babies and animals.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Darel and Don Camp. He is survived by his wife Cindy, daughters Christina Dickson (Rob), Nicki Kerlin (Kevin), Sarah Lister (Derek), and son Michael (Haley), and his ten grandchildren: Caden, Cruz, Ryan, Max, Reid, Nolan, Nico, Kit, Elizabeth, and Sebastian.
A graveside service for David Camp will be held on Saturday July 30, 2022 at 11:00a.m. in the Clara Rowland Cemetery in Ewing, Virginia.
