Flora (Jackie) Louise Thompson Long, age 90, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at the Tri-State Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Harrogate, Tennessee on Saturday, March 9, 2019. She was born May 20, 1928 to the late Earl and Amelia Lingar Thompson of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee.
Flora was a faithful protestant member of the Church of Chenoa and loved her Lord. She was a loving housewife for thirty-one years, who enjoyed fishing and camping, going to church and served as a volunteer at the Salvation Army Thrift store for several years after the death of her husband. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Franklin Long; Sisters, Beulah (Edward) Booker, Jeanne (Wilburn) Givens and Ann (Kenneth) Booker.
She is survived by her son, Dana (LaVonne) Long of Middlesboro, KY; Brother, James (Tom) C. Thompson of Murfreesboro, TN; Grandchildren, Rebekah (Shannon) Harris of Pineville, KY, Shaun (Amanda) Long of Tazewell, TN, Chris Long of Harrogate, TN; Five Great Grandchildren, Brandon Harris, Molly Long, Macey Long, Abigail Long and John Long.
And a host of nieces, nephews and special friends, Phyllis and Claude Knuckles.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 14, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Shannon Harris officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Arch Campbell Cemetery at Cedar Fork in Tazewell, TN.
