Dorothy Viola Hood

Dorothy Viola Hood, age 74, of Middlesboro, KY, went to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.  She was born on December 16, 1949, in Middlesboro, KY, to the late Vibert and Allie Terry Smith.  She was a longtime member of the 30^th Street Church of God. 

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Charles Mitchell “Tex” Hood; son-in-law, Roy James Lowe; sister, Gwen Gibson Brantley; nephew, Jeff Smith; and niece, Julie Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Charla Lowe; step-grandchildren, Chris (Evelyn) Lowe and Keith (Kelsey) Lowe; step-great-grandchildren, Charlie, Emersyn, and Tatum; brother Cecil (Elsie) Smith; nephews, Kevin Smith, Robbie Smith, and John Gibson, Jr. as well as a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. 

The family of Dorothy Viola Hood will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY.  Funeral Services will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Kersey and Pastor Alva Robinson presiding. 

Family and friends will meet at Cawood Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, to travel in procession to Green Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum where graveside services will be held.
