Cledis Chumley

The world lost a beloved mother, Cledis Bryant Chumley, age 88, passed away February 9, 2021.  She was born June 24, 1932 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Lewis and Dora Redmond Bryant. She met and married Claude Chumley on November 13, 1952. She was a devoted wife for 67 years until Claude passed away on February 7, 2019.

Cledis was a dedicated Christian woman who loved to go to church.  She was sweet and kind to everyone she met.  She loved to laugh and made the best cornbread you could ever eat!  She never went anywhere without her hair fixed and her makeup on!

She lived her life in the comfort of knowing this one verse: He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4

Cledis was preceded in death by her husband Claude Chumley and her two sons Louis Edward Chumley and Timothy Lyn Chumley. Her parents Lewis Bryant and Dora Redmond Bryant. Brother Ronald Bryant and Sister Lola Owens.

Cledis is survived by Special Loving Cherished Daughter in Law Angela King Chumley and Angela’s daughter and son in law Kristin and Nathan Stork.  Daughter Becky Chumley Pearman, Daughter in law Sharon Chumley.  Grandchildren Kristen Owens and husband Ben, Keshia Kincaid and husband Will, Kelly Pearman, Nikki Chumley, Cory Chumley, Luke Chumley and Nathan Chumley.  Six Great Grandchildren: Lance, Gavin, Allie, Tucker, Owen and Ford. Also special friends Roy and Gwen Cheek.   All of these she loved and touched deeply.

In honor of Cledis a Celebration of Life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Haynes Flat Baptist Church, Speedwell, TN with Rev. Travis Dunn officiating.
