Charles Ray Turner, Sr., age 71, of Ball Ground, GA, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, GA. He was born on October 19, 1952, in Kalamazoo, MI, to the late Charles Turner and Arzella Summers.
Charles worked in the drywall industry for over 40 years in Georgia. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and the Atlanta Braves Baseball. His fur-babies, Belle and Paddy, brought him great pleasure with their playful antics and loyal affection.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his late wife, Linda Turner; brother, Jack Gerding; son, Mark Smith; daughter, Shana Smith; and beloved fur-babies, Rufus and Patches.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Mary Turner; sons, Charles Ray Turner, Jr. (Diane) of Pineville, KY and Josh Smith of Ball Ground, GA; grandchildren, Faith Taylor (Tim) of Arkansas, Austin Turner (Courtney) of Pineville, KY, Hailey Roark (Brandon) of Middlesboro, KY, Hannah Turner (Wesley Mullins) of Arkansas, Lilly Turner of Willisburg, KY, Taylor Smith, Savannah Smith and Jeb Smith all of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Addison Mills, Journey Mills, Koa Turner all of Pineville, KY, Marci Roark and Charlie Roark of Middlesboro, KY, and Zoie Sullivan, Cecil Taylor, and Arthur Mullins all of Georgia; sister, Virginia Seymour of Dayton, OH; his beloved fur-babies, Belle and Paddy as well as a host of cousins, other family, and friends.
The family of Charles Ray Turner, Sr. will receive friends on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel in procession to Kelly Partin Cemetery, Chenoa, KY, where graveside services will be held.
Pallbearers will be Austin Turner, Brandon Roark, Jared Smith, Garrett Sargent, Roger Brown and James Jackson.
