Charles Harley Long, age 84, of Ewing, VA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 22, 1939, in Rose Hill, VA, to Theodore Long and Ollis Sue Daniels Long, who preceded him in death.
Charles was a longtime, faithful member of Poor Valley Holiness Church, Rose Hill, VA. He was a farmer, IBEW Journeyman Wireman Local 934, and handyman who used his skills to help those throughout his community. He is remembered as being a selfless man, often taking care of others’ needs before he tended to his own. There was no request for help that he would not try to meet. Most importantly, Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was blessed with a large family that he cherished.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Velvet Hunley; great-grandson, Levi Daniels; brothers, Grover Long, Claude Long, Austin Long, and J. Harold Long; sisters, Genelle Newton, Lillian Long, Thelma Neal, and Elizabeth Hensley.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Audrey Hensley Long; daughter Robin (Alvin) Long-Hawk and Betsy Long; sons Henry (Jessica) Long and Ben (Crystal) Long; siblings, Willard (Jeannie) Long, Don (Barb) Long, and Brenda (Larry) Owens; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be presided by Reverend Richard Long and Reverend Doug Daniels. Music will be provided by the Poor Valley Holiness Church singers.
At the conclusion of the funeral service, a graveside service will be held in the Long Cemetery at Poor Valley, Rose Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Samuel Long, Thomas Long, Blake Long, Braden Long, Donnie Willis Hunley, Ben Long, Scottie Hunley and Frank Dixon.
