Cecil Mcbee

Cecil McBee, 82, of Middlesboro, passed away Wednesday, June 8. 2022 at the Middlesboro ARH.  He was born June 5, 1940 in Lee County, VA, the youngest of 12 children born to the late Albert and Nellie Redmond McBee.  He always recalled spending many of his childhood days in the mountains with his little dog and hatchet.

Cecil worked hard all of his life.  He spent his career as a dozer operator for local strip mines.  He loved gathering and working in firewood, he was always proud of his hand-built wood splitter.  He loved bragging on his wood piles he had for the winter.

He was the “go to fix it” man in the neighborhood.  You could find him “tinkering’ in the garage on his 49 Ford truck or sitting on the porch.  He was always available to pump up a bicycle tire or check the oil in your car.

His most prized possession was his family, he was a true family man.  He was a devoted father to his children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Lou Leach McBee on May 9, 2022.  He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Pat McBee, Bill McBee, Robert (Lucy) McBee, Pink McBee, Annie (Junior) Moore, Edith Ashbury, Georgie (Wade) Jesse, Hazel McBee and a brother-in-law, Walter Raines.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Kelly (Lora) McBee of Lancaster, KY and Christy (Michael) Bean of Middlesboro, KY.

Sisters: Jeanette Raines of Corydon, Indiana and Della Williams of Middlesboro, KY, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the Cawood Funeral Home.  Following the visitation, a procession will leave from the Cawood Funeral Home, going to the Harrogate/Meadors Cemetery where graveside services will be held.
