Brenda Nell Cheek Mason

Brenda Nell Cheek Mason, age 81, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. She was born on March 6, 1942, in Balkan Coal Camp, Balkan, KY, the daughter of the late Robert Bradley “Brad” Cheek and Minnie Letha Siler Cheek. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Old Cannon Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

She was a retiree of 22 years of the Bell County Health Department. She accomplished many tasks while working there. Some of which included introducing the WIC program and numerous other programs to better the health of Bell County. She also enjoyed traveling with her family to various destinations around the United States. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and dog lover.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Delphus Mason; her husband, Ronald Delphus Mason; and her sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Lou Cheek Miracle and Clifford Miracle.

She is survived by her daughters, Shari Lynn Mason and Deidra Lou Mason; one grandson, Jonathan Randell Gilbert; brother, Charles Terry “Buddy” (Brenda) Cheek; sister, Letha Ray Cheek (Joe) Hendrickson; double first cousin, Ronnie Sue Siler (Charles) Sharpe; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Bluegrass Hospice and the many others who helped Brenda through her time of need. You all are greatly appreciated.

The family of Brenda Nell Cheek Mason will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel in Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Clayton Barton and Reverend John Hall presiding.
